About Me
Born in Osaka, Japan, I studied macroeconomics at university then moved to Tokyo for opportunities in international economics. I was the lead of European marketing at a company that provides economic and stock information to the world. This gave me the opportunity to travel and apply the English I learned in school.
Having fallen in love with the international aspects of my job, I moved to London to pursue a Masters in International Relations. After graduating, I took a consulting position at a major British accounting firm.
Due to family circumstance, I moved to the United States and put my family first for many years. In order to reestablish my career in a foreign land that required totally different qualifications, I earned another Masters in Corporate Finance and Accounting and studied for the CPA exams.
As a CPA now, I have 15+ years experience in US companies. From multi-industry auditing at an accounting firm, to being a controller at a financial institutions, to being the CFO of a tech startup and then at higher education institutions, my career has covered many aspects of finance.
My goal is two-fold: to apply my extensive experience of corporate finance, accounting and taxation to assist companies in the US, and to offer my knowledge in estate planning, retirement planning and general finance to families and individuals. I can offer the unique perspective of a Japanese woman who has had to navigate the intricacies of US finance, taxes and laws, both personal and corporate. I founded Kamitani Financial Solutions to help people create their life dreams.
